Running a stewardship programme
Implementation
Putting ideas into practice requires good planning, energy, commitment and good communication. Co-operation between interested parties is essential for good stewardship. Ultimately, most stewardship is done on the farm so this is where the implementation focus should be.
Auditing
Auditing fulfils a number of functions:
- Checking if your measures work
- Emphasising your commitment
- Providing ‘hard facts’
- Providing feedback to drive refinement
Refining
A programme which is improved in the light of experience will not only help to address the issues, it will also generate respect among stakeholders.
