We work with land managers, the food chain and policy makers to identify, develop and implement sustainable land management practices. These practices aim to enhance retrieval of carbon from the atmosphere and optimise carbon storage whilst maintaining productivity and economic sustainability. As part of this approach we believe that use of pesticides and fertilisers have a key role but that their use demands careful stewardship.
At Carlton Consultancy, we believe effective land management will be at the heart of global sustainable development during the 21st century. Land is an important resource. Society uses land to produce food, to produce timber, for energy, to site towns, for transport and for recreation. The land also supports biodiversity and ecosystems, is critically important for fresh water management and plays a key role in the global carbon cycle.
